As part of our “One School-One Book” initiative, on October 3rd and 4th, all students participated in a school wide event during their ELA classes. PKMS students have been listening to the book A Long Walk to Water, by Linda Sue Park, where they learned about the struggles that Sudanese people face due to the ongoing conflict in that part of the world. Along with this event, on October 19, students will attend a school-wide assembly in the morning that connects what they have read in class to the real world. The assembly will feature ArkAngelo, a former lost boy, who will speak to the students about his experiences and journey to America. That same evening, at 7:00 pm., we are offering this presentation to our PKMS parents and the District #301 community to support our school improvement goal of increasing parent connectedness opportunities with our school.
